Name
To properly represent our current focus and customer base, we have officially changed our business name to Shimloch Sustainable Kitchens and have created modern branding to ensure that we are recognisable and stand out amongst our competitors.
Our new business name has been registered with ASIC and we have designed a new logo, which is a registered Trademark for our organisation.
Mission Statement
Our aim is to create kitchens and cabinetry of the highest quality, using materials that are locally sourced where possible, eco-friendly, and sustainable. We use a substantial amount of reclaimed timber bringing new life into our projects. We aim to minimise wastage in all aspects of our business.
We are community minded and support numerous local groups financially, providing materials and tools for small building projects, and volunteering our time.
Logo
Colour Palette
The colours of our new logo represent our focus on building renewable, sustainable, eco-friendly, and exceptional quality kitchens and associated cabinetry.
Colour swatches below are in print (CMYK) and screen (HEX and RGB) format.
The green represents sustainability along with yellow to represent eco-friendly and sunshine. Blue rounds out the colour palette representing sustainability for our oceans and other waterways.
Use of logo
MS Word and PowerPoint
For use on our letterhead and other documents that might require our logo to be prominent, the logo is to be sized to a height of 3cm, with the width set to match the aspect ratio of the height. To ensure that this is correct, only adjust the height and let the width set automatically. Logo must be set a minimum of 5mm from any edge to ensure that it will print correctly on all modern printers.
For use on business cards, the height is to be 2cm, with the width set to match the aspect ratio of the height. Standard size for our business cards is 91mm X 55mm with the logo on the left-hand side and name, position, contact details on the right. Any additional decoration on the business cards must match the colours in our logo.
For use on cover pages or other documents where the logo is the main focus, the height can range from 5cm to 10cm for both portrait documents and landscape orientation.
For use on coloured or image-based backgrounds, the logo is best used with a transparent background, otherwise it must retain the white background.
Clothing
Shimloch staff have a choice of a polo shirt or a collared button up shirt. On both styles of shirt, the logo is to be on the left-hand side. Shirts are black, navy, grey or white. On the light-coloured shirts, the text will be black as per the logo sample above. On dark coloured shirts, the business name text will be white. There may be variations on this for special events or activities, but any variations must be approved in writing by management.
Document Guidelines
Fonts and Styling
All Shimloch staff have access to Microsoft Office 365. All standard documents will be created using MS Word. To keep things simple, Shimloch will use the default MS Word normal text font of Calibri with a default size of 11pt. Heading 1 is to be Arial Black 16pt and Heading 2 to be Arial Black 14pt. Any use of colour for headings must be either blue or green and must match the colours in the logo. Details of colour codes can be seen under the section titled Logo.
Any templates created for Letterhead and other Shimloch Sustainable Kitchens' documents should have the styles updated to match the above information.
Grammar and Spelling
All documents must be checked for spelling and grammar errors. The document author is responsible for checking that the document is free from errors and use of the proofing tools within the Review ribbon is recommended. Individual staff members can also subscribe to the free version of Grammarly or Microsoft Editor browser extension. We also recommend having a second person proofread any documents where practical.
Tone and abbreviations
Documents that are for communicating with suppliers and builders can contain technical information and specifications. When communicating with customers that come to Shimloch directly, try not to use industry jargon and acronyms unless specifically requested by the customer.
Tone is to be friendly, but professional. Abbreviations, such as use of the ampersand (&), should only be used when it is a part of the title or product name and not used to replace the word "and" in communications. The Oxford comma can be used in the last item of a list to clarify that it is a separate item.

Images and Copyright
Shimloch has a folder of digital images that have been professionally created and edited. These images include finished kitchens, individual products, safety equipment, and our tradespeople at work. These are available for use by staff and the folder also includes approved variations of our logo. You will find these on our Intranet and can be copied for off-site use. Please make sure that you include a copyright statement when using these images (c) Shimloch Sustainable Kitchens, [Year]. You MUST also create an entry in the ShimlochSK_IPLog spreadsheet.
Other images include photos of completed customer kitchens and cabinetry as well as Supplier logos and product images. These may be used but must be approved by the business owners or Office Manager and MUST have a completed Permission to Use form signed by the customer or supplier. Digital copies of the signed Permission to Use forms are to be saved in the same folder as the images and must include details of the file name, date taken or created, and customer or supplier details and signature. Customer kitchens images must also include the copyright statement (c) Shimloch Sustainable Kitchens, [Year] when used. When using Supplier images, the copyright notice should state (c) [Supplier name], permission to use granted [year].
Kitchen designs that have been created with our CAD software as well as any hand drawn designs are also protected under Australian Copyright Legislation. These are also entered in the ShimlochSK_IPLog spreadsheet using the CAD Diagrams sheet.
